What is wilderness season?

Is it presently a season of wilderness?

And what does a wilderness season entail?

Let’s begin by discussing the three distinct seasons commonly referenced in the Bible.

Egypt signifies bondage.

Being in bondage implies being enslaved to something.

You could be a slave to fear, anxiety, anger, and various other elements the enemy attempts to exploit to impede your progress.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1).

Wilderness represents a transitional season.

It’s a place where God will truly test us.

The wilderness is designed to deliver you from yourself.

“And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not” (Deuteronomy 8:2).

The wilderness is a place that will humble you, test you, and reveal what is in your heart.

The promised land is God’s promise—a land that will provide the resources needed for sustenance and life, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Even upon reaching the promised land, battles against the enemy and giants persist.

“I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:17).

“Then they told him, and said: ‘We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit'” (Numbers 13:27).

While my finances might be in the promised land, my marriage could be in the wilderness, or vice versa.

There are aspects of our lives that haven’t been surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

As the children of Israel left Egypt and moved toward the promised land, their language of bondage persisted in the wilderness, hindering their entry into the promised land.

“Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness” (Exodus 14:12).

Even after being liberated from Egypt, fear tempted them to desire a return.

We must refrain from reverting to the very things God liberated us from: Egypt and the wilderness.

The promised land awaits.

Discern which aspects of your life may be residing in these seasons.

Understanding the season you’re in is essential for navigating the associated processes.

God’s love for you ensures that He will never leave you as He found you.
