Can they love like Jesus?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We loved because He first loved us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God\u2019s love is unconditional.
God\u2019s love is sacrificial.
God\u2019s love is selfless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love is NOT love. God is love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re called to love the Lord God with all our heart, mind & strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That love hits different when they love like Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If they haven\u2019t experienced God\u2019s love, how can they love you like God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love gives.
Lust takes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love helps.
Lust hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love adds good things.
Lust takes good things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We must discern the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In John 21 Jesus appears to His disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For context, Jesus was crucified on the cross & resurrected on the 3rd day. He broke through the grave & conquered death, hell & the grave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus asks Peter 3 times \u201cDo you love me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Peter answers yes all 3 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now Jesus uses a different Greek word of love when He asks Peter if he loves Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
John 21:15 – Agape \u21d2 Feed my lambs.
John 21:16 – Agape \u21d2 Tend my sheep.
John 21:17 – Phileo \u21d2 Feed my sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Jesus asks if we love Him\u2026 He will give us instructions after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your love for Christ shows through your obedience to follow His instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He tells Peter to feed my lambs, tend my sheep & feed my sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are called to make sure we feed those who are spiritual babes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then watch, protect & continue to feed the adults (sheep).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God desires us to grow & mature as His children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now as we study the different types of love\u2026 there are 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#1 Storge – Affection.
This is the love we receive from our parents & to children. This is a love describing how you would love your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#2 Phileo – Friendship.
A love you have with your friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; (Romans 12:10)
#3 Eros – Marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The love between a husband and wife. More of a romantic and intimate love between a marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#4 Agape – Sacrificial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is God\u2019s sacrificial, selfless and unconditional love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
37 Jesus said to him, \u201c\u2018You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.\u2019 (Matthew 22:37)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
